As a newcomer to the sport of triathlon, I've gotta say, I couldn't have timed it any better.
It's pretty clear that female participation across all distances, is increasing at an alarming rate. This morning for example, as I prepared to write this, my very first blog post, I noticed Australian Triathlete had released their very first 'Pink Edition'. Just as AT Managing Editor Tiffany loftus-Hills birthed her concept of a triathlon publication for women, I too have been chipping away at creating an interactive blog for like-minded chicks. Could this be a coincidence? I think not.
As more and more single women, mothers, working professionals and homemakers become inspired to participate in tri's, the more I realise I'm not alone. So if this is the case, then why do we still feel 'silly' or uncomfortable to ask those burning questions we don't have answers for?
Similar to Loftus-Hills and I'm sure, numerous others, my aim is to connect with women of all ages, shapes and levels of athletic ability and share the things I'm learning about training, health and fitness.
I will be discussing a range of different topics, from your essential tri equipment to highlighting inspirational people, best injury remedies and food for the body, mind and soul.
Hopefully, by creating a sense of belonging, you too will become inspired to motivate the women around you and to give triathlon a go.
Together, I think we can find ways to make life bigger, more meaningful and healthier.
I look forward to seeing you on the journey.
