Everyone has a story...

Be inspired: "Choose to win" Susie O'Neill

I haven't read this book in years but I do remember the practical tips I gained from devouring these pages.  And yes, did I ever devour it.  The entire book is filled with insights into life, staying positive and the power of self belief.  I couldn't put it down.  And to be honest, I should pick it back up off the old, dusty bookshelf and re-read.  It's important to be reminded about the impact of our dominant thoughts.

"The only limits on human achievement are self-imposed." Dr. Dennis Waitley

The other bible

I'm not religious! There, I said it.  I realise this can be a very debatable topic and you're probably wondering what the heck does it have to do with triathlon?  But stay with me, I have a point... I think.

I respect most, if not all beliefs and religious values offered around the world however, I do think that no matter who you pray to, worship or devote your mind and spirit, there is always one common thread.  And that is Love.  Love for yourself and love of others.

While I don't 'pray' as such or talk to the old mighty Jesus himself, I do believe in a greater power.  For me, I call this thing the 'universe'.  I often ask it (I'm still undecided on his/her gender) for guidance, I listen to and watch my surroundings for answers and most importantly I believe that if I learn to love and accept myself, than my higher power, my light, my universe, my 'god', will lead me to a better, happier life.

So, I'm going to share with you my sweet, little bible.  A book by Louise L. Hay - "You can heal your life".

My bible, doesn't talk about past, historic events, describe what 'not to do' or contain accounts and letters from former well known men.

My bible teaches me the importance of self belief, the skills I need to overcome destructive thought patterns and that "if we are willing to do the mental work, almost anything can be healed."
Straight from the authors mouth herself.  Louise's dedication says: "May this offering help you find the place within where you know your own self-worth, the part of you that is pure love and self-acceptance."

See, I believe everything in our lives is a reflection of ourselves.  From the people you meet, right down to the fears and causations of disease.  Like Louise Hay, I choose to see the world this way.  You might not.  But I'm choosing to share this little gift with you (my bible), as I think it may help.

Have you ever had a time where everything just goes wrong?  You are repeatedly injured, or better still continue to have the same illness/ problem over and over again?  I bet you have.  How did you deal with it? In the case of this book, "you can find the correlation between diseases you may have had or are having now and the probable causes that are listed."

The basis of this list gives you the problem, the probable cause and finally, the new thought pattern.

Here is how to use this list when you have a physical problem:

* "Look up the mental cause.  See if this could be true for you.  If not, sit quietly and ask yourself, "What could be the thoughts in me that created this?"

* Repeat to yourself, "I am willing to release the pattern in my consciousness that has created this condition."

* Repeat the new thought pattern to yourself several times.

* Assume that you are already in teh process of healing.

** Whenever you think of the condition, repeat the steps."

I take advantage of this book whenever I can.  It opened me up and I hope it has the same effect for you.
